Webflow gives you a lot of control. But not everything should be touched unless you know what you’re doing. To keep things safe, here’s a clear breakdown of what you can update confidently - and what’s best to avoid.
Safe to edit anytime
These changes are completely safe in the Editor:
- Text on pages (headings, paragraphs, buttons)
- Images and image alt text
- Blog posts and CMS items
- Links and URLs
- SEO titles and descriptions (in the CMS)
- PDFs and downloadable files
- CMS tags, categories, authors, etc.
These edits won’t break your layout. If something doesn’t look right, you can always undo it or ask us to double-check.
Safe to edit with caution
Still manageable, but take your time:
- Publishing or unpublishing blog posts
- Adding new CMS items
- Replacing large images (watch your file sizes)
- Embedding YouTube/Vimeo videos
- Adjusting button links or navigation menu links
These won’t break the site, but they can affect how your content appears or performs.
Better left to us
These changes can easily cause layout or design issues. We recommend you don’t touch them without talking to us first:
- Editing page layouts or sections
- Changing font sizes, colours, or spacing
- Reorganising the CMS structure
- Creating new page templates
- Editing animations or interactions
- Adjusting mobile-specific styles
- Touching anything in the Webflow Designer if you’re unsure
When in doubt - ask
If something feels risky or unfamiliar, don’t guess. Just send us a message. We’d much rather help you do it right than fix it later.
