Your website is built to work on all screen sizes - from massive desktop monitors to small mobile phones. That’s called responsive design, and it’s baked into how we build every site.
But when you’re making edits, especially with content, it’s important to understand how your changes affect each view.
Content updates affect all screen sizes
When you change text or images in the Webflow Editor, those updates apply everywhere - desktop, tablet, and mobile. You don’t need to repeat the update for each screen.
This is usually what you want - consistent content across devices.
Layout is controlled in the Designer
If you’re using the Webflow Designer, you’ll see breakpoints for each device size:
- Desktop
- Tablet
- Mobile Landscape
- Mobile Portrait
You can adjust styles for each one - but be careful. Changes made on smaller breakpoints (like mobile) only apply to that view. Changes made on desktop cascade down to all smaller screens.
In short:
- Change text = all views
- Change layout = breakpoints matter
Why mobile still matters
Most visitors see your site on their phone first. If you’re uploading new content (especially images or videos), always preview your site on mobile before hitting publish.
Avoid:
- Huge headline text that pushes content off screen
- Wide images that don’t resize well
- Long blocks of text that feel heavy on a small screen
Best practice
If you’re unsure how something looks, use the preview mode - or just check your live site on your phone before and after publishing.
If it doesn’t look right, let us know - we’ll help fix it.
