Whether you’re linking to another page, a button, or a downloadable PDF, Webflow makes it straightforward. You can add or update links directly in the Editor or inside the CMS.
Adding or updating a text link
- Highlight the text you want to turn into a link
- Click the link icon that appears
- Choose the link type:
- Another page on your site
- A section on the same page
- An external URL (starting with https://)
- An email or phone link
Click outside the box to save. That’s it.
Adding or updating a button link
- Hover over the button and click the blue box
- In the link settings, choose your destination just like with text links
- Save or publish when you’re done
Buttons behave exactly like text links - they just look better.
Linking to a downloadable PDF
If you want users to download a file (like a brochure or menu):
- Upload your PDF to the Asset Manager in the Webflow Designer
- Copy the direct file URL
- Paste it into any link field (text, button, or CMS field)
If your site uses CMS to manage downloads (like “Resources” or “Downloads”), there may be a specific field for the PDF link.
Tip: Use clear file names (e.g. “Pricing-Guide-2025.pdf”) so users know what they’re downloading.
Opening in a new tab
For external links and file downloads, it’s best to open them in a new tab. You’ll see a checkbox for this in the link settings.
